Super Berries & Almond Milk Smoothie

This is one of my favourite 'dessert' style smoothies, sometimes I just need a break from an everyday green smoothie.. this tastes like a little piece of heaven - and its good for you too! 
It is so quick and easy to make, and I definitely feel better about treating myself to one of these than breaking into a tub of ben & jerrys ice cream..

Ingredients:

1 cup of mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries and raspberries)
1 banana
2 tbsp oats
2 tbsp chia seeds
1 cup almond milk

I buy all my fruit fresh and prepare into portions to freeze - this makes it quicker to make and by using frozen it ensures my smoothie will be ice cold! Try using a frozen banana for a more 'ice-creamy-milkshake' texture.

Chia seeds are great to add into smoothies as they don't have a strong flavour, but they are packed with antioxidants and are a source of protein - which is great if like me you have a vegetarian diet. Chia seeds are also a great way of thickening up a smoothie that is predominantly water.
